The measurements tool in Design Studio can be used to define or adjust Length, Circumferences, or any caliper measurements you find necessary for the patient.


Best Practice: Measurements


We recommend taking hand measurements of a patient prior to scanning so that those measurements can be added correctly into the model.

  • Length should be taken parallel to the axis of the limb

  • Circumference should be taken in the coronal plane & perpendicular to the model

  • ML- should be taken in the coronal plane & perpendicular to the model

Design Studio is set up for Length and Circumference to be placed on the model with best practices in mind.

Caliper measurements in Design studio are often used to measure ML, however Calipers are not associated with any one plane. If a prosthetist would like to review or adjust the ML of a transfemoral model, we recommend realigning the model to take advantage of the length tool. See video below:
